 Alliance Defence Force Anti-Scamming

I have had scams attempted on me, but have never trusted anyone so I haven't fallen victim to a scam yet. However, in presence of tiredness, a member of our guild has been scammed in a trade. This post is to alert members to some common scams and hopefully prevent this from occuring to our members. Also there is a section on what to do if you are scammed.

Scam 1: During personal trade the seller may try removing the item and replacing it in several positions rapidly to see if you'll click Trade after putting your gold in. Be careful not to click trade when they're doing this incase you accept the trade of giving your gold for them giving nothing, Also I have had an instance where after doing this for a while and me not falling for it that they replaced the item with a different item of lesser value. I once again waited and ended up getting the trade. They said joking but they were probably seeing if they'd get away with it.

Scam 2: In a COD mail transaction check that the attached item (let's say 10 Eternal Essence) is actually a stack of 10 and not just a single so that you're not paying for 10 but only receiving one. Taking a few extra seconds before clicking can save you the trouble of being scammed. They may put the item in, then change the topic of the mail. ALWAYS make sure that the item or items that you are receiving is what you are paying for.

Scam 3: The old "Argent Dawn" recognises your service blah blah and here is a token of our appreciation (but it's a 99g COD).

If you have been scammed at any time, feel free to ask an officer of the guild for assistance (as long as they're not in an instance) and you can file a report with the Blizzard GMs. To do this, open your ticket, and it is within "Item". You'll see scam in there.

The blizzard punishment for scamming is a suspending of your account and they will TRY to recover what you have lost but this is not guaranteed. The Alliance Defence Force punishment for a member that "scams" another player (even non-guild) is immediate termination from the guild. We do not tolerate this type of behaviour.
